I was out working (playing) with the boss's tractor. I raised the 62" mmm and could smell something hot. I shut the 2210 down to investigate. I found that the belt on the 62" mmm had jumped off of the rear idler pulley and was rubbing on the deck. Not the best design to run a v-belt on a flat pulley with about an inch of contact. Looks like a problem area to watch. If a twig pops up in the belt it could jump off of that pulley real easy.

The next problem happened when I was removing the 62" mmm from the tractor. I forgot to remove the pto shaft and started to pull the deck out of the right side of the tractor. The deck came to a sudden stop as the pto shaft hit the hydraulic filter. I pushed the deck back in some and removed the pto shaft and then finished removing the deck. When I started the tractor, I noticed hydraulic oil spraying out the left side. When the pto shaft hit the filter the greese fitting on the pto shaft pierced the hydraulic filter. I went over to the JD dealer to purchase a new filter and some oil. No filter. The said that they never sold that filter before. I was told when we purchased this tractor that it was the 20th one that they have sold. Ours has 9 hrs on it in 9 days. It take about 4 hrs. to cut our grass (weeds). I guess the other 19 are never serviced or they are just parked in the garage and polished.

The 2210 was picked out by my wife, it's her tractor. I probably would have purchased the MF GC2300 if it would have been my tractor. She has artritis bad and the 2210 was only tractor that she could operate all of the controls. The sales department at the JD dealer treated us as if we purchased an $80 weed wacker, not a $13,000 tractor. The parts department could have cared less that they didn't have a filter. The only bright spot is the service manager has gone out of his way to assist us with some operational problems for my wife and they did come out and service the mmm height adjustment knob that didn't function properly. Mybe next year I would like to replace the Kubota B8200HST that we have with something new, with the treatment by the JD dealer, I dought it will be green.

Try another dealer. Mine has hjad every part/ filter I needed in stock. I had an extra rim/tire in two days and has been great to work with. This "attitide" is presant in some dealers of ALL manufacturs. Finding a good dealer is probably the most important step in chooseing a tractor. ....

I was so steamed last nite I forgot to mention that the parts department ordered a filter, after much prodding on my part, to be delivered via UPS to my home today. No filter when UPS delivered today.

I decided to go strait to the top. I called the main office for the local dealer. They have 4 stores and we are in the middle of all the stores. I spoke to the owner and explained my displeasure of dealing with his company. He said that he would check on the filter and get back to me. He called back about an hour later and said that when he tracked the filter that is was scheduled to be delivered today but must have gotten misdirected by UPS. He said that he had located a filter at another dealer, that someone was picking it up, and that it would be delivered to me by 2 PM. At 1:55 a car rolled up the driveway. It was the owner with the filter and a couple of hats. He said if I had any more problems to call him. As he walked back to his car he mumbled something about idiots and sending all of the customers to the competition. Hopefully things will get better at the local dealer. ....

The owner did you right to the highest degree. Can't ask for better than that. I'll bet there were some sore asses back at that dealership when the boss got back. Glad you got things in order. ....

I agree also, I went to three JD dealers until I got my price ,service and my 790, if youwere in a rush overnight express from the jd web site would have gotten you back in business sooner or cross the filter # to a wix, fleetguard or napa. ....

I agree completely with Chief, I'd bet their were some select conversations that day at that dealership. My dealer is certainly not perfect, Just a good guy working hard, sometimes they screw up but the difference between a good dealership and one to walk away from are those that step up to the plate and make it right. You cant do any better than hand delivery. I'd sure give them another try. ....

I would agree with previous comments on the dealer. I received very good customer service, but went through three other dealers before I made my purchase. The individual makes the difference.
I did find something about my tractor that may help someone in the future. The deck will not lift unless you have the three-point spacer bar in place. It is the left three-piont arm that lifts the deck linkage. It catches a bracket as it lifts, and can't do so if it is not all the way out. I had my deck locked in the raised position, and couldn't turn the knob to release it because the arm wasn't releasing the preasure. ....
